Since 1994 the National Institute for Literacy has led the EFF initiative to develop adult learning standards that can guide instruction and assessment and improve the quality and results of adult literacy programs. The Equipped for the Future at the Center for Literacy Studies, located at the Center for Literacy Studies, University of Tennessee-Knoxville, provides support for states and program in adopting and using the EFF Standards.

The EFF Special Collection brings EFF related resources and expertise to a single point of access for multiple users working in adult and family literacy education. The collection includes materials developed by EFF partners and other quality materials relevant to standards-based education and program improvement.
