One piece of evidence Jane collected from a student:
What is the Listening Process?
The listening process starts out with
Receiving the words while you listen.
Understanding what you have received Remembering what was said.
Evaluating what we learn, and put it into my own words on paper.
Responding to what I heard to get a better understanding.
What listening strategies do you use when you talk with your daughter?
While talking with my daughter or son, first I get eye contact with
them, to let them know that I am serious. First I listen to what they say, and wait until theirs an opening then I start. I’ll tell them its my turn, most of the time they want me to listen to what they say then what I say, so sometimes I think that they’re not listening and it makes me mad. I have to work on their listening process with them.
What have you learned about the listening process?
I’ve learned a lot about listening.
First I’ll get eye contact with the person I’m speaking to, then I allow the information I hear, so I can receive it into my mind, focusing on what they’re saying, while understanding it.
Then I’ll respond to what they said, at the same time Remembering it and Carefully evaluating what I heard and give my opining.
