Equipped for the Future is a federal initiative to create standards for adult education.

We are in the process of evaluating the EFF standards. This summer, we will use the standard “Guide Others” in our class work. We will evaluate it to see if it is appropriate and useful in an ESL class. Some of the EFF skill descriptions for “Guide Others” are:

  1. Evaluate the needs of others
  2. Evaluate your ability to help
  3. Use strategies that take into account the goals, task, context and learning styles of others.
  4. Ask for feedback on the usefulness and results of your help.
